Science & Technology: All the best tech at #CES2016 Apple Huawei Oculus Rift LG TV

The International CES has kicked into full gear and Tuesday was filled with some of the best gear we've seen yet.
Whether it was monster TVs, elegant smartwatches or brand new sensor-laden gadgets, the day was jam-packed with news from big companies and startups alike and Mashable's team was there to see it all all.

We've rounded up a few of our favorite announcements that came out of CES today. Keep reading to see all our top picks and let us know which ones you're most excited about.

LG’s new ultra-premium brand Signature
LG introduced LG Signature, its newest ultra premium brand of electronics. The minimal — and most likely expensive — lineup includes products like the ultra-thin (2.75mm) 4K OLED TV, a smart stainless steel fridge that has an “auto door” system and a hybrid air purifier with a transparent window. LG Signature products will launch in North America, Europe and Asia shortly after CES.
The Korean electronics company also showcased the LG Gram 15, a 15-inch laptop that weighs less than half the amount of Apple’s new MacBook Pro, and a 98-inch 8K LED TV. The 8K TV boasts four times the resolution of a 4K TV and eight times the resolution of a full HD TV. Which brings us to...

TVs everywhere
As expected, we saw a ton of new TVs; many of which we'll likely be drooling over for quite some time. Samsung previewed a massive 98-inch curved 8K set. Yes, you read that right — 8K. Coming in at a 7,680 x 4,320 resolution — that's more than 33 million pixels — the Korean company promises it's one of the first "real" 8K sets.

Chinese company HiSense revealed 22 new TVs, including four new 4K-ready sets that also support High Dynamic Range (HDR) processing, which improves the display colors so images look clearer and more realistic than on other sets. Of the four, the best is the H10, a $2,799.99 65-inch curved 4K 3D TV.

Sharp also unveiled 25 new TVs, including its flagship N9000 series 4K TVs that come in both 65 (curved) and 70-inch (flat) varieties which will retail for $2,999.99 and $3,299.99, respectively.
One that truly stood out among the pack though was a 65-inch UHD set from StreamTV Networks that allows you watch 3D content without 3D glasses. More impressive is the tech behind this. The company pulls it off by using light fields and defractive indexes, which the company's CEO said are similar to "early stages of hologram technologies."
Panasonic's high tech turntable
Panasonic throws it back with a new high-tech turntable, the Technics 1200G and the super-limited edition Grand Class 1200GAE. And it’s a beauty. The Technics 1200G and 1200GAE has a new direct-drive electronic motor and microprocessor guiding sensors to stop minute motor vibrations.

Additionally, Panasonic launched smart home software Ora, which can unlock doors, adjust your house temperature and start up your oven. Panasonic also announced Freeze, a partnership with Facebook to monitor client security and energy saving. The company also unveiled a 4K UHD Blu-Ray player, a 4K OLED TV and a compact Lumix camera.
Smarter’s Fridge Cam
We’re not sure if we love or hate Smarter’s Fridge Cam, but the gadget garnered a lot of social media attention — mostly from the haters. The device is pretty much exactly what it sounds like: It mounts to the inside of your fridge and a companion smartphone app takes a quick snapshot of what’s inside so you can see what food you have or need. Smarter wasn’t the only one to come up with the idea, though.

Samsung’s Family Hub Refrigerator, also introduced at CES, has a 21.5 inch, 1080p touch screen and features Amazon’s digital voice assistant Alexa. You can’t ask her what’s inside the fridge, but the Family Hub refrigerator does have a pair of cameras on the inside that takes pictures every time you open and close the doors. You’ll be able to see those images on the Samsung app.
Hydrao Smart Shower

The Hydrao Smart Shower might be the solution to wasteful water consumption in the tub. The Bluetooth LE device connects to an iPhone or iPad app where you can set three alert intervals — for example, five gallons, seven gallons and 10 gallons. At each amount, the built-in LED lights will light up in three different colors to remind you how much water you’re using. In lieu of batteries, a tiny turbine uses the water to generate enough energy to power the lights and the Bluetooth connectivity.
Android Wear keeps growing
The Google smartwatch platform got several notable additions. Casio showed off a rugged WSD-F10 Smart Outdoor Watch ($500) that's water resistant up to 164 feet and has a pressure sensor, compass and accelerometer and comes with a range of built-in applications for outdoor activities.

Sneaker company New Balance also announced plans for a fitness-focused Android Wear device that will launch toward the end of 2016.

On the other side of the spectrum, Huawei acknowledged that women may want more fashionable options. The company showed off the Huawei Watch Jewel ($599) and Elegant ($499), which are two of the most elegant smartwatches we've seen yet.
