Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry leads USA TODAY MVP voting #NBAVote Lebron James USA

Coming off an MVP season, it seemed unlikely that Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry could be better this season.
So far, though, he is.
Curry is averaging 31.8 points per game, up from 23.8 last year; he's shooting 45% from three-point range, up from 44; he's shooting 52% from the floor, up from 49 last year and he has a player efficiency rating of 33, up from 28 last season.

Combine that with the fact that the Golden State Warriors are a near-perfect 26-1 this season, and it's no surprise that Curry leads the MVP voting in USA TODAY Sports network's poll, the first released Monday.

As Curry has made clear, the driving force for him and the rest of the Warriors is very simple.
“We want to be great,” Curry told USA TODAY's Sam Amick earlier this season. “I don’t think great teams take nights off. I don’t think great teams really coast through parts of the schedule just because you feel like you have the talent to do it. That cheats the process, and I think we have guys who understand (that)."

Curry finished with 40 points from the panel, sweeping the first-place voting, and had a big lead on second-place LeBron James from the Cleveland Cavaliers (26 points).San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard was third with 21 points, Paul George of the Indiana Pacers was fourth with 17, and the Oklahoma City Thunder duo of Kevin Durant was fifth with 12 points and Russell Westbrook was sixth with four points. (Ten NBA journalists pick their top five, with points distributed on a 5-4-3-2-1 basis.)
