Deportivo de La Coruna scored twice in the last 14 minutes to claim a dramatic draw as Barcelona's perfect home record in La Liga this season was ended.
Lionel Messi put Barcelona ahead when he curled in a first-half free-kick before Ivan Rakitic fired in the league leaders' second goal on 62 minutes.
But Deportivo hit back when the impressive Lucas Perez ran onto Miguel Cardoso's pass to slot home.
Alex Bergantinos then powered in a superb equaliser in the 86th-minute.
Barcelona next play in La Liga on 30 December as they fly off to Japan to compete in the Fifa Club World Cup.
Lionel Messi has scored five times in La Liga this season
This was not the send-off they would have hoped for, having also dropped points in a 1-1 draw at Valencia last weekend before drawing 1-1 at Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League last Wednesday night.
Neymar, La Liga's top scorer with 14 goals, was missing with a groin injury but his absence did not look like it was going to be costly when Messi opened the scoring for the champions.
The Argentina international superbly steered in his 11th goal of an injury-hit season with a 30-yard free-kick, which he dipped over the defensive wall into the top corner.
And Rakitic thumped in his first league goal of the season from 25 yards.
But Luis Enrigue's Barca side then switched off and were punished in an exciting finish, as sixth-placed Deportivo repeated the result they produced at the Nou Camp on the final day of last season.
Perez reduced the arrears with his 11th goal of the season as he scored for the sixth successive game and a mistake from Sergio Busquets enabled Deportivo to break late on, as midfielder Alex sprinted forward to finish superbly with a long-range strike.
The result means Atletico Madrid will go joint top of the table with Barcelona with a home win over Athletico Bilbao on Sunday.
Elsewhere, fourth-placed Celta Vigo beat Espanyol 1-0 thanks to a goal from former Liverpool forward Iago Aspas, while Levante conceded a late goal to lose 2-1 at home to fellow strugglers Granada .
Ivan Rakitic scored his first league goal since getting one in Barcelona's 8-0 win at Cordoba in May
Alex's goal was his first since October, 2012
