Emmanuel Adebayor set for Premier League return, joining Mourinho's Chelsea #CFC #LFC

In case you haven't had your fill of veteran strikers coming to Chelsea for one last hurrah, a policy under Mourinho Mk.II that has yielded mixed results with the likes of Samuel Eto'o, Didier Drogba, and Radamel Falcao, we might be looking at yet another one in Emmanuel Adebayor.

This report is from the Daily Mail, so take it for whatever you think that's worth, but it's a story that's been whispered about in dark circles before the Mail brought it to tabloidian light.

Emmanuel Adebayor is set to return to England with a view to sorting out his future. The Togo striker has spent an extended period in Africa following his exit from Tottenham in September. But the proven Premier League marksman is due back in London this week as he bids to find a new club.

Adebayor and his 96 career goals in the Premier League left Spurs by mutual consent in September, following a season filled with plenty of drama away from the limited amount of football he did play. Because he did not terminate his contract with Spurs before the transfer deadline, he is not eligible to join another club until January. Supposedly he's been training hard to keep in shape. Watford and Chelsea are the two clubs supposedly looking at him, with the Blues no doubt thrown in there purely out of Mourinho's prior relationship at Real Madrid with the now 31-year-old striker.
I'd like to safely dismiss this rumor as absolute nonsense, but we did offer an olive branch to Falcao -- which worked out exactly as expected -- so I don't even know anymore.
