Adele Quit Smoking 4 Years Ago Because She Was Afraid It Would Have Ended Her Life
She stopped smoking cigarettes four years ago.
Four years ago, Adele made a wise choice to quit smoking because she was afraid it would end her life.
“If I’d carried on smoking I’d probably have died from a smoking-related illness and I think that’s really bad. If I was dying from lung cancer I would have potentially given it to myself and that wouldn’t be something I’d be proud of,” she tells The Daily Mirror.
The singer revealed she was smoking an average of 25 cigarettes a day. At one point, she had to cancel tour dates after she lost her voice, according to the publication. After an operation to stop a recurrent vocal cord hemorrhage, doctors advised her to stop smoking or risk having her career end.
“I absolutely loved it, but it's not that fucking cool when I'm dying from a smoking-related illness and my kid is, like, devastated,” she recently told The Rolling Stone.
